"Victoria", which I liked a lot. Oh dear, I'm a Kinks-hating Fall-fan.
Maybe I should make my excuses and leave... It seems I generally prefer
other people covering Kinks songs to the originals. For example, there was
that band from Bristol who did an exciting cover of "Big Sky". Kirsty
MacColl's version of 'Days' (although Elvis C managed to do a version that
was even more turgid than the original). For transvestite pick-up
confusion
songs, I'll take Richard Thompson's "Woman or a Man" over "Lola" any day.
I've been transcribing a press conference that Ray held when he played
here
in Madrid last week (it's not for me, it's for a friend, honest!). I'll
give him his due in that he says that he only ended up singing because
noone else in the band wanted the job.
