Richard Thompson (whose, lest we forget, "You're gonna need somebody" was
covered by the BAs) wrote a song called 'Layla', a song from his more
overtly Islamic period (on 'First Light' from the late 1970s), which had
no
connection with the EC bag-of-cliches hit - do people _ever_ really get
down on their knees, begging their darling please? Naturally, RT's song is
by far the superior and the one time I saw it live his guitar solo was
awesome.
