Cavaliers and Cadavers
- Subject: Cavaliers and Cadavers

I have read Kathleen's message. I still don 't understand how everyone
has
copies of this CD when all the people I speak to about it shake their
heads
and nod their fingers, spike their tongues and say no.
I have not heard it.
When I was ill one day, I saw a documentary about scientists and
palaeontologists working on the fossil remains of creatures' skulls. They
used a CAT-scan to see exactly the nature of the cavity. They used a kind
of latex rubber so that the fossil skull became a mould for the rubber,
which in turn, once it was teased out of the cavity, became a model of the
nerve tissue. It looked like one of those cult creatures you see in the
shops just before Christmas which get on the news because everyone wants
one
and there aren't enough to go round and there's a mother who has knifed
some
guy because he bought three all at once and she only had one and that was
the wrong colour.
These were blue, dark blue, by the way.
I guess the scientists thought that by doing this they could find out
exactly what prehistoric creatures were thinking and what kind of papers
they read.
Anyway, I think it is very interesting that Gerard was watching the same
programme. It never occurred to me to write a poem about the topic. But
then I am not a trendy rock star with a gift for contemporary verse, and I
was very, very ill.
Well, quite ill.
I made a full recovery.
Yours, as ever,
Philip.
Yes, another Philip.
Or has that line of enquiry become extinct?
