The whole Xtrmntr album is pretty amazing, as is the Chemicals'
remix of Swastika Eyes - a bit reminiscent of Block Rocking
Beats, which can only be a good thing.
I love a bit of electronica, although I'm never quite sure exactly what
the terms 'electronica' and 'trance' encompass. For example, I've
heard 'trance' applied both to the Chemical Brothers and to Ibiza
chancers like APB.
I like mostly obvious stuff like the Chemicals, Leftfield and Prodigy.
To earn some muso brownie-points, however, I can heartily
recommend
'The Contino Sessions' by Death in Vegas,
'How to operate with a blown mind' by Lo-Fidelity Allstars, and
'Raffi's Revenge' by Asian Dub Foundation.
I was going to try and describe each one, but they are each a
clash of several different dance/rap/rock/funk/etc/etc styles which
is impossible to describe but just happens to work (not easy). Ideal
for anyone who wants to dance and (whisper it) think at the same
time.
Any other recommendations out there?
Chris
