That club is still very dingy - but they do a really ace 60's/northern
soul/kitsch/groove night called Bubblegum once a month - definitely worth
a
visit - although avoid the draught beer...

Hi jon,
funnily enough, yes i think i went to that gig, can't imagine what year
that
was though. let's see , i was living in reading from 86 - 92 so sometime
during then. Such a small stage, but there used to be some fabulous bands
play there...in the dingyest of surroundings. The owner at that time had a
habit of not paying the bands or at least ripping them off...hence no
decent
bands playing there these days (and maybe why i expect they didn't go
back).
And no, i havn't got your cap.

i suppose i must try and remember where i have seen them and what years.
But
one anecdote i can remember was talking to their pr person when watching
them at the mean fiddler or somewhere like that in london and saying to
her
"you must love working for your record company because you've got so many
good bands on the label like the blue aeroplanes?" and all she could reply
was "what, that don't sell any records?"....good pr!!!
she also promised me a t-shirt, the "have you now or have you ever been a
member of the blue aeroplanes?" and never gave it to me. I've wanted one
ever since.....

Has anyone got a history of the band, you know the sort of thing.....

-when and how they formed
-when members joined and left
-how Wojtek came up with his unique dancing style
-where the chap who played the records is now
-where I can buy Beatsongs and BopArt on CD or old-fashioned

By the way did anyone see the Aeroplanes in the "After Dark" club in
Reading
years ago.
It's just that I lost a green peaked cap that night and wondered if
someone
found it?
