Hi there, I have to admit to being somewhat disconcerted at having just
joined this list and to have read the words 'Marillion' and 'Dire
Straits' more often in the space of an afternoon than I would have
thought bearable in an entire lifetime. My own Marillion anecdote
however would be simply that on one of the doors at the school in which
I teach is scratched, well, strangely enough, the word 'Marillion'.
Makes me grimace/smile every time I pass through it. Thankfully it is
not the door to my classroom. The ages old wooden bench that I use for a
desk however has 'The Kinks' and 'The Chords' written for all the world
still to see which I find much more acceptable.

Ahem. Sorry about all of that. Just wanted to say 'hi' really and to say
that having spent ten years (for a variety of reasons)avoiding my old
Blue Aeroplanes records, I pulled them out again the other day and was
pleasantly surprised... so much so that I have ordered 'Weird Shit' and
'Fruit' without having any idea if they are any cop at all, but I'm
crossing my fingers and hoping. I also wrote a somewhat rambling article
for my ezine which you can find here
http://www.tangents.co.uk/tangents/main/2001/july/blue.html if you are
in the slightest interested. There is a whole load of rubbish about
riding bicycles before you get the Aeroplanes, so please feel free to
skim.

Um, so that's about it then. Except to ask if anyone knows anything at
all about the whereabouts of Rodney Allen these days. I would dearly
like to get back in touch with him, so if anyone can help out it would
be much appreciated.

alistair
