Now, now. There's room for all of us on this hyar Love Bus.
But having said that, I think it's fair to say that not everyone thought
Strangelove was worth a damn. I certainly didn't. Whiney lyrics, whiney
singer. If anyone hasn't heard it, listen to Henry Rollins' monolouge
about
travelling to England. The bit on Morrisey sums it all up as far as I'm
concerned.
And what the frig is wrong with Dire Straits? Sorry, I've always dug the
music that the band produced. Granted, it was quite samey by "Brothers In
Arms", but before that, it was big fun.
Can't say from Marillion. Although after living in the UK for a couple of
years, I did realise that people either loved 'em or hated 'em. Two of my
officemates could get into serious slanging matches over Marillion or
Fish's
merits. Nearly came to blows once or twice. Nice to see they're so
serious
about their music...
And while I lived in the UK, nobody I met (unless they were from Bristol,
or
knew Alice, who was the keeper of the original BA page) had ever heard of
the Aeros. I'd always have to say, "You know that Massive Attack album,
'Mezzanine'?" "Yeah?" "Well, one of the former Aeros guitarists played
on
that rekkid..."
Very tiresome. Why can't they just get a deal, get properly promoted, and
get out there? I suppose Gerard will have to start wearing belly shirts
soon, just to get the general public's attention...
Ooops, I did it again,
-Doc
